RDWWA Promotional Video

Evaluation On RDWWA

what were  you asked to do?

We were asked to make a promotion video for a charity from Basis.

Who/what were you making a video about and whats was the purpose?

We made the video for the Red bridge disabled women’s welfare association, or all know as RDWWA. Their vision is for Asian ladies to live joyful and healthy lives. Are aim was to make a promotional video for them to get people more aware of who they are and what they do.  The video is also to get people to help out and be involved in the charity as any Asian woman can join them.

What did you do in each production stage?

Pre-Production- I had to first research a little about Basis and what type of Charity they help out. When i got assigned with Red bridge disabled women’s welfare association i did more research just on that one chairty. I then had to email the person who runs the chairity to get fottage for my video.
Production- We got a reply for the interview and we went to the ladies house to record some footage that we used to make the promotional video. We also got some footage about there group which showed us mostly them at an event of theirs.
Post-Production- We started by importing all them footage we got in the interview. We watched though the clips to see what information is relevant and started putting some footage together in iMovies. I then went onto making some graphics for the video. I then imported the graphics into the video which were arranged in correct order. After this i had to export it onto youtube.

what problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?

we had a lack of interaction footage so it was hard to make the video more existing as there wasn't much to use as cut aways. This was because we didn't go to one of there meeting and we only had an interview with the lady who runs the place. Although we lacked footage we still had enough to put in the correct place to make the video less boring. Another problem we had was organising the interview as we didn't get a reply. This was easily resolved by just emailing again and we got a response.

What were your strengths and weaknesses in each stage?

My main strengths would of been using camera language in a correct and well thought-out way, as i personally thought the footage i recorded was following the rules i have learned with camera language. My weakest point would of be the pre-production all together as i found it hard to find and make sense of the information about the charity and how it works. But in post-production i found editing the footage quite difficult while making the graphics and finding music relatively easy as there wasn't much useful footage that we had.

What is your opinion of the finished product?

I think that the finished product could of been quite a lot better if we had more time because we could of went to one of there events and got better and more footage to use. But presides having little footage to work with i think the finished video has met it target and purpose.

Getting the most out of your camera

exposure

Exposure is the amount of light that is captured by the cameras secor. In the three pictures above i change the exsposure. In the left i changed it so it was the lowest exposure level my camera went, allow little light to be captured and made it quite dual. On the right is when it was turned up to the highest level of exposure, making the picture every bright and has alot of white patches which make it hard to see what happening in the picture. Lastly in the centre one is when i chaged he exposure to allow the right amount of light to make the picture look at its best.

Flash

Flash is a light that quickly illuminates the area that you are in with artificial light. This is not the best setting to use as it can cause problems. First one is when you use flash on a refective surface it causes a white blur or a a big musky look to the picture. Above i have taken a picture of the same shiny object with a flash and without the flash. You can see that without the flash it gives off less light but it still looks better as it doesn't have a white blurry dent in the middle of the picture.

Using flash when taking pictures of people can course a red eye effect to happen due to the light capturing the blood behind the coloured pat of the eye. In the photo's you cant see the red eye as most cameras try to eliminate this factor as it never wanted.

White Balance

White balance is a setting on a camera that chaged the colour lighting to get rid of unrealistic colours. In the pictures bellow i have taken the same picture three times. On the left it shows the picture using the sunlight setting were it makes the setting look hotter and a brownish tint to it. On the right is with the Tungusten Bulb, This is used inside normaly, it makes the picture have a clearly blue tint to it making it look kind of cold if you use this outside. The middle picture is it with the setting it should use and that is the cloud setting were it makes it ajust so it.

ISO (sensitivity)

Low ISO
High ISO

High ISO
Low ISO

ISO is a feature on a camera that  changes the amount of light the camera takes for it to take a picture. In dark places it best to change the ISO higher as it  show more which would of been hidden in the dark, as shown in the picture of the dark room. The problem with increasing ISO is that it can give off a static effect and loose quality, as you can see in the picture of the field. the grass look less smooth and more fake. You should use high ISO level in the dark and keep the ISO low when outside in the light.

AF Mode

AF mode is Auto Focus. There are different modes on cameras that makes the focus act in different ways. One of them is to focus onto a person or what the camera thinks is a persons face, this mode is used in photographs of people. The over two types of AF i used were, single capture and a multi capture one. The single capture focus on one main object while the multi capture would take many parts of the photo and make be focused.

Burst

Burst is a used on taking pictures for action that are only going to happen once or fast action shots. Burst takes a lot of pictures in a rapid speed. this means it will hopefully capture at least one good picture out of all the pictures that were taken.
