Continuity Editing Exercise

Q1) What scenario were you asked to work to?

i was asked to work to the scenario of a short clip that includes having someone walking though a door and having a conversation with someone else.

Q2) what were the key media language skills you were trying to demonstrate?

I learnt though this task more about camera language such as 180 degree rule which is when you keep to one side of two people having a conversation, rule of thirds where you keep the persons eye level on a third of the way down the camera, and match on action, when you follow a action in 2 or more shots. I also was demonstrated some editing skills on Imovie.

Q3) Who did you work with to plan and film?

i worked with two other classmates to film and plan our footage.

Q4) How successful was this grouping?

i think the group came out quite successful as everyone got alone so there was no shyness or arguments. We could of focused better at times when recording but we kept are focus the majority of the time. Overall it seemed that the group worked well together and would continue to do so in future work.

Q5) How did you use your creativity to develop the scenario?

We tried to keep the clip as original as we possible could. We went for a Interrogation scenario were two people are asking a mafia worker question about a shipment. In my opinion i thought this was a creative scenario. It could of be more creative as having trying something that hasn't been attempted before or something you wouldn't expect, for example putting a plot twist in it.

Q6) How useful was your storyboard? What did you change and what did you stick to?

We had many problems in are first storyboard so we had to make another one. We kept in a production stage mostly everything in it and when recording referred back to the storyboard. This was a useful pre-production task that help a lot while in production. We also added any extra shot as well because we didn't put everything we needed in the storyboard
